    Error when installing Firefox Add-ons

    By admin | January 31, 2008

    Quick Tip:

If you’re getting error messages , especially the “Unexpected Installation Error” when trying to install Firefox add-ons then relax, you’ve found the solution. It’s a fairly simple fix.

First you’ll have to show Hidden files and Folders, so open my computer, then go to Tools, Folder Options, View, and in the box check the Show Hidden Files and Folders box. Now click Apply.

Next step is to go to Start -> Run and type c:\documents and settings\ and click ok. Next open your username folder, then open Application Data, then Mozilla, then Firefox, then Profiles.

Now you should see a folder inside there with a weird name like 3a6pnlcv.default double click on it. Now find three files, extensions.ini, extensions.cache, and extensions.rdf. Shut down firefox completely and Delete each of those files. Then open firefox and install your plugin. Keep in mind that Firefox will take a couple of minutes to open the first time since it has to regenerate the extensions files. Tada! Problem solved, so:
