Pro Tip: Manage your Wireless connection with Windows

    By TheEmperor | February 11, 2008

If you have a Linksys or Netgear wireless card, or any other manufacturer really, there is a good chance they they have custom software that installs with their driver in order to manage the wireless connections. Most of these utilities are terrible and some of them, like the Intel Proset Wireless, cause all kinds of problems. To give control of the wireless connection back to windows is a relatively trivial process, but it’s not obvious unless you know what to look for.

    Solution:

Click Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services

Find the Wireless Zero Configuration service and right click on it then click Properties.

Now change the Startup Type to Automatic and start the process.

Now you can manage your wireless connection with the standard Windows utility.

    As always please
