Friday’s Tech News Grab Bag
By TheEmperor | February 15, 2008
This week in tech was ever so eventful, first of all Yahoo gave a giant raspberry to Microsoft in regards to their buyout attempt and responded with their own intentions to buyout AOL. The second item to make a blip on my tech radar was Sun buying up Innotek, you might recognize Innotek as the makers of the very nice little Virtualization tool VirtualBox. The Sun takeover has sparked some concern that they might decide to take the previously Free and Open Source Virtual box in a more commercial direction. Next up on the list was some Valentines day Fun from the FBI warning that some of those cute little e-cards could contain nasty payloads. I expect to see outbreaks of the Storm worm all over the place this weekend. And the last item to catch my attention was the fact that the “Next-Gen” DVD wars may be over as rumors abound that Toshiba plans to drop HD-DVD leaving Sony’s Blu-Ray as the clear victor in this round of format wars. And that’s the news that I found interesting this week.
