Friday Tech News Grab Bag
By TheEmperor | February 22, 2008
It’s Friday again and time to see what the week has brought us in technology news.
First thing on the list is the Microsoft Recall of Vista SP1, coming hard on the heels of reports that SP1 resulted in unbootable machines on a significant percentage of the users who tried it this is yet another blow to the much hyped Vista OS. My recommendation is still to stick with XP until Windows 7 is released mid 2009. In much cooler news Google is offering 30 million in cash for the first team to put a robot on the moon. The competition was first announced about 6 months ago but is actually getting underway today. With any luck this will be yet another catalyst for the privatized space race. Rumor has also reached my ears that the Firefox 3 Beta 3 has been released and is almost good enough to adopt now. I’m still waiting for at least RC1 before I switch though. And finally for everyone sick and tired of paying $3+ for a gallon of gas check out this Air Powered Card that is due out in the US in 2010, that’s right, run your car on air. And that’s your tech news for this week. Keep an eye out today for the second part of my series on Open Office where I’ll compare MS Word and OO Writer.
