Pro Tip: Returning Office to Default Settings
By TheEmperor | June 3, 2008
What happens if you accidentally remove your Standard toolbar in Excel, or make 10 copies of it in Word? Now you have some horribly mangled Frankenstein version of Office lumbering through your machine. How can you fix this? Well, aside from purging it with fire you can try returning Office to the default settings with the following steps:
Open Excel or Word.
Click on Help.
Click on Detect and Repair.
Check the “Restore Default settings” box.
Click Ok.
This should fix all of your menus and return them to the default state. TADA! No more drooling monster frightening your children.
