Google Flags Every Site as Dangerous

Google Flags Every Site as Dangerous

As you can see from the above screen shot Google is flagging EVERY page in its search results as potentially harmful. Requiring the URL to be manually entered in order to reach the page.

Including Google itself:

Google is Confused

Google is Confused

No idea when they will have it fixed, but this is the first time I’ve seen Google mess up on such a massive scale.

*UPDATE* This is due to a stopbadware.org outtage. The cause is unknown and no mention of when it will be fixed.

*UPDATE* True to form Google was on top of things and this has been fixed.

So, reviews for the Windows 7 Beta have been popping up around the web for the last few weeks and I guess it’s time for me to post mine. My inital impression has been that Windows 7 is Windows Vista with most of the annoying stuff turned off by default and some eyecandy improvements, and this is how that impression was formed.

Ok, to lead off this weeks tech news it turns out that President Obama will be able to keep his blackberry after all. This is a huge leap forward for the technophobic federal government and says good things about the extent to which Obama is willing to go to push technology initiatives within the government. In less encouraging news  the first truly widespread Mac trojan has been discovered hiding in pirated copies of Apple iWork 09. The trojan is called iServices.a and once it is installed it contacts a master server to wait for marching orders, this will come as a blow to many Mac users who have long considered themselves immune to this sort of shenanigans. Also on the less optimistic front Microsoft will cut 5000 jobs by the end of 2010. The redmond behemoth is also posting lower than expected earnings just like everyone else. The news isn’t as bad as it seems though, Microsoft will also be hiring several thousand new employees over the same period, but primarily in their advertising divisions. And finally the fine folks at Polyera teamed up with BASF Future Business to develop a breakthrough in semiconductor ink that greatly improves the efficiency of creating things like RF tags, making complete RF inventory tracking that much closer to reality.

And that’s all the news that grabbed my attention this week. Enjoy!

Yesterday morning a curious thing happened. After my arrival at the office and normal morning coffee we noticed that internal mail did not seem to be flowing properly. I made a quick check of the Exchange services, everything was running, then checked the mail queue. Imagine my stunned surprise when I saw an email weighing in at 1.3 GIGABYTES in the outgoing mail queue. I actually had to call two of my colleagues over to verify that I was not mistaken in my evaluation of the email size. Indeed, someone thought it would be an excellent idea to send 1.3 gigabytes of attachment through the mail system. Read on for the results.

With the economy in an uproar and everyone dashing around trying to scrape up extra money work from home scams have become more and more prevelant. I know this somewhat deviates from my normal technical guides, but I feel that it’s something that citizens of The Empire might need a helping hand with. We would all love to make a million bucks stuffing envelopes in our bathrobe with our feet propped up on the sofa, but that’s not going to happen. Just come to terms with that right now. That being said, read on for some actual legitimate work at home opportunities.
