As mentioned over at Cnet both Best Buy and Wal-Mart have started selling iPods about 50$ cheaper than the regular contract price.  A couple of weeks after Wal-Mart entered the iPhone market with the 297$ and 197$ offerings Best Buy has made an attempt to keep pace with the price reductions by offering Refurbished models at 299$ and 199$. Why you would opt to buy a refurbished iPhone for 2$ MORE than a brand new one is beyond me, but perhaps if you’re part of the pretensious, black turtleneck wearing, Rev A iMac buying, MacWorld Expo attending, Mac Faithful then stooping so low as to enter a Wal-Mart where all of the peasants shop isn’t worth the two dollar discount. One way or another, the price is coming down just in time for the last of the afforementioned MacWorld Expos and I expect another price drop after the event wraps up, so hold  off on your iPhone purchases for another 3 days and see what happens.
